With the public launch of RecoveryREALM.com on November 8th 2006 by MellyP and Skye, we embarked on a whole new era for 12 step recovery.

I know that many critics in the past year have made public comments that the release of Recovery Realm would not make a  relevant mark on anyone's recovery, that we were a joke and wouldn't last.

But the fact is, Recovery REALM is here today and making a difference. We have grown from a website to a community where our members provide the critical framework which binds all of us alkies and addicts together into one cohesive recovery family.

Recovery Realm was conceived with the best of intentions and despite having its share of challenges, it has continued to flourish and provide a unique online recovery experience.

Response to Recovery Realm has overall been positive. Regardless of the amount of research and planning which went into the site, we are not glitch free. Thank you all for your patience and assistance.

We encourage you to submit, to our email or post in our forums, any suggestions on how we can make this an even better recovery community .

If you haven't taken advantage of some of the  features on our site
such as the News Room, FAQ, User Profiles, Help Links, and chat room - I encourage you to do so.

Personally, I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish Online in only 1 year, and I am excited to move forward into a new era of growth and prosperity for all community members.

I do know that for this alcoholic/addict this site has been a very important discovery. In here I can be myself without needing to temper my message or worry about upsetting someone's understanding of singleness of purpose. I can talk about and listen to discussions on the solution and not just the problem.

I feel at home here more than any other place I have found on the net.

What a year it's been, huh? For some of us it started out with heartbreak and turned into growth. It was a year of endings and also some wonderful beginnings.

I thank each and everyone of you. I don't know what I would do without you! You all are my homegroup on the net, and for that I am appreciative.

Thanks Melly and Skye for what is developing here, and also for allowing me to be a part of it.

I have to agree with each post already written. As someone said "what  a year, huh?" to wit, I say Oh yeah!.  I came here I believe back in February, I was beaten down, hurting and in need of some serious change and GROWTH. I came here and was treated like the newbie I was, with love, patience, and much tolerance. I have attended the online mtgs, all of which are AWESOME!

I watched and I prayed that the Realm would do a great work. God has answered my prayer. Melly, I don't mind saying "I told ya so", I knew in my heart, this site would do wonders, I sensed it. Skyebee, your a work of pure art. Both of you cared enough about those of us wounded and hurting to take a leap of faith and to walk on the water.

You proved, that, together, in partnership, YOU COULD...thus giving the rest of us hope that WE too, can and DO make a difference in each other's lives.

You provide a safe place, for us women. No longer do I fear while sharing in meetings, because I know this place is secure! Thank YOU BOTH.

You had the vision, both of you. (welling up with tears now) And out of that vision, was birthed The Realm. Saying thank you, for me, is not enough!  I came here, loved it, supported it, and I hereby, for ALL eyes to see, tell you, I and my hubby, will continue to Support this site for as long as God allows us too. It is OUR pleasure to  be a part of this beautiful site so Blessed with people who love, cherish and honor each other's path. That is not found many places, but I have found it here.

You both fought the good fight! And YOU BOTH Proved, you can come out winners. Pain is necessary for sincere growth. I have grown so much since being here.

For those of you who maybe thinking of coming on in, please do so. Here is where honest hard working recovery begins, continues, and resides. Here is where recovery is no longer a joke, but taken VERY serious. We can and DO have fun here too. Here is a place you can call home.There is comfort here, and home is where the heart is!

In closing, I will say, I have met some of you f2f, and I've not been disappointed at all. You each walk the walk. You live this thing called Recovery, and YOUR the greatest people I've yet to ever come across or meet. I look forward to meeting those who began this place! A f2f hug and a kiss on da cheek, I would love to give you both.

Looking forward to tomorrow nights BIG event, I would not miss it for the world.

It's hard to believe it's been a whole year since I found this wonderful site. I had grown stagnant in my program of recovery and was just browsing one day and stumbled in here.

I just hung around in the forums for a while and then one day I jumped into chat. Since that day I have become involved here and in my home group to the extent I have never before. I owe all that to Recovery Realm. Thanks Melly and Skye for getting this place started.

Thank you, my fellow Realmites and Minions, for giving me support and friendship I never imagined possible in the online world.

I feel at home here, and I love each and every one of you.  This site continues to amaze me in the compassion of its members, from oldtimers to newcomers --  that compassion is a tribute to the site's founders, and is what sets Recovery Realm apart from all the other recovery sites available on the web.

I can find recovery anywhere -- what I find at Recovery Realm can't be found elsewhere -- the warm welcome to new people, the empathy, the protective feeling of family -- those are usually only found offline at face-to-face meetings.

I am proud to be a member of Recovery Realm, and I salute all of you who are a part of this wonderful site!

Thank you all for being here. Thank you melly and skye for bringing recovery realm to us and all you do. Thank you to all the trusted servants for all you do also and to everyone for being here and a part of my recovery and this site. When I found this site I was going through alot of hurt myself and at the time never thought I would be able to trust, feel safe or have friendships online again. Everyone made me feel welcomed from the moment I came into the chat and forums. And it was just weeks after finding this site something happened that let me know I was really safe here, and it helped me be able to open up and I was able to hear others sharing who had what I wanted. I know I have a long way to go, but thanks to my HP, thanks to this site, and thanks to YOU all, I am not where I was either. And for that I am grateful. I cant tell you how much this site or you all mean to me. Thank you Melly and Skye for making this happen. Thank you ALL for being here, helping me, loving me and being a part of my recovery.  I love ya all.

Well.... I certainly won't pretend that starting this site wasn't one of the bigger challenges of my life.

There was a lot of controversary, negativity and even some betrayal of people I thought were friends.

There were times when I just wanted to drop it but I knew the importance of having somewhere safe to go to. It had been awhile since I felt that anywhere.

As some of you know, this stemmed from abuse I had seen in other chatrooms where there seemed to be no responsibility by the owners or trusted servants.

Skye and I made a conscious decision that that would just NOT be allowed here. That we, and our trusted servants WOULD be resp. to our members. I think it has proved that we were right in not letting anyone stay that is abusive.

Freedom of speech is ok as long as a person has some respect for that freedom of speech.

I want to thank those who were here when we first started and encouraged me to keep going. Who showed love and told me it would work out. Those steady members who have been so loyal.

I want to thank those who have joined since and have brought so much love and friendship to the room.

This has been some learning experiance. Mostly good, some heartbreaking.

Thank you for your support,,spirit wise and financially, cause we couldn't do without you.

I thank Skye for kicking my butt and telling me to take "action" and get to the tech school here to get things started. If I didn't like the other chatrooms then DO something!

I want to thank that tech school "NAIT" for all their help also.

Lastly,, thank God for His guidance and wisdom.

WOW can you believe that a year has gone by?

I totally agree with what has already been said but need to add the following as well.

Skye , Melly there are no words to describe how I feel about you guys and the respect I have for both of you for following your hearts and your vision.

This truly is a place that one can feel safe. A place for people to share in confidence and to feel worthy of who they are! The compassion and respect that flows through this site is heartwarming and so badly needed, and that is what makes this site feel like HOME.

 There are many variations of RECOVERY and this site allows and encourages with an open mind, it does not descriminate and never allows for abuse of any kind. We are all humans trying to heal and grow on our journey's, and I am a firm believer that the foundation for that to work is a safe environment, compassion, understanding , open-mindedness, kindness and respect.
