FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH: Blackouts make it impossible for me to recall all the times I verbally abused those I was supposed to love. But the times I remember are enough to shame me. So, now that I’m trying to clean up my act, I need to be especially cautious not to hurt people with my words. Likewise, I need to check my attitude toward another, because it’s visible when I speak. A superior attitude or insincerity is insulting and shouts abuse to an alcoholic. Instead, I pray that my attitude and my speech reflect, not violate, our principle of love toward all. |
