05/26/2009 12:55 PM Alert

As of right now I have about 6 months to live.  I haven't been around as much as I used to because I have been in & out of hospitals. I have had 2 seizures in the past 2 weeks so I was put under 24 hour care for the weekend to watch for more seizure activity. I feel Ok today but I am taking things day by day. I'm going to continue to try & make meetings if I am able.

Love Always

Larry

I read this and feel the deepest sadness for the loss of my brother and friend. A sadness I share with so many here on the Realm.

I regret that I only had a few chances to meet him face to face and treasure those moments and the many times he and I chatted over the net, through e-mail and the phone. He was a support to me through some hard times, especially during the difficulties we had moving to Texas and with Ike. A true friend is not one that asks if you need help, he just helps. That was Larry.

In the short time we knew each other, only a couple of years, he came to be more than a friend. Then again with someone like Larry it did not take long to build the foundation of friendship. He was what so many of us in this fellowship try to be.

We both looked forward to spending some time sitting on the bay, doing some fishing and talking about life and recovery. In the days ahead, when I fish out here on the island I will think of him and hold a bit of his memory with me.

Larry touched many lives, through the Legacy Club, the Realm and in his life in general and gave the gift of love and recovery to them. He was a blessing in my life. One I am grateful for and will miss dearly.

Larry was one of the first people I met here on Realm 15 months ago.  He was always kind and caring.  He shared recovery with all of us here and he brought a special light to the room when he came into it.  We al looked forward to when Larry was due to come in or chair a meeting.  Larry was one of a kind and he will be missed greatly.

My thoughts, prayers and love goes out to his family at this difficult time.

With love....Susan (Suz)

To say that I am heartbroken is an understatement.  Larry was a very loving person who will always remain in my heart.  His patience, tolerance and love for his fellow man always shone through.

Larry had a very special place in this world, and I am glad I was able to be a part of it, however briefly.

My prayers remain with his family.

It is with truly a deep sorrow that I read about Larry passing away.

Larry was one of the kindest and patient men I have ever met. He was very respected here at the Realm and served as a wonderful monitor who was always willing to give someone a 2nd, 3rd,,  even 4th chance.

To say he will be missed is an understatment.

Thank you Dana for letting us know. He was well loved here.

You and your family are in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear this.

As many have said, Larry is one of the most patient person's I have ever met. It showed in his writing online and the conversations I was blessed to have with him in pc and online.

He will be missed by so many.

Dana;
Thank you for letting us know of Larry's passing. Like many of the others have said it is sad news. However for me, with the sadness, comes a feeling of comfort knowing that he will not suffer and is with God and the angels. I would like to pass along something that was passed along to me at the time of my fathers death. "The quality of a man's life is not measured by how he has lived, but, by how deeply he has touched the lives of others." I feel that Larry truly did touch alot of lives in a great way and I will be forever grateful for having had the chance to know him and have had him be such a great friend and inspiration to me. My thoughts and prayers are with his family in their time of need.

Much Love,
Fred

Some people have said that they wished to help with a donation to Larry's family choice of charity or flowers. However , we have learned that his wife and daughter may be struggling for a bit so we would like to send a donation right to his family. If anyone would like to help with this, please go the home page and click on paypal. We will send a money order to Mrs Larry with the week after we feel all donations are in .

There will also be a memorial meeting on Sunday for Larry at the time the meeting he chaired was.

I too am saddened to hear of Larry's passing. He was a very special person. He was one of the first people that I me on this site, and he always made me feel welcomed. The world is a little less kind without him, as he truly practiced wha he preached. He has made us all better people just for knowing him. While I am sad, I am glad his suffering is over and he is with his almighty father. Prayers go out to his family.

As Always,
Kathy

Family,

Ruthie and I went to say good bye to Larry this morning. I got a chance to meet Larry’s wife and kids as well as Dana face to face, and shake hands with some of our family from the Legacy and Serenity Clubs.

As I listened to what everyone had to say I heard time and again how the last 8 years of his life, his years of sobriety, were the best part of his life. His own son said that it was not until those years that he really got to know the wonderful man his father was.

So many of the other comments made spoke of how great the gift of Larry’s sobriety had been a gift to them.

Knowing Larry, sober, the man that he was, has been a gift to many of us. To experience that with his friends and family affirms what we are about here, helping others to discover the beauty of who and what they are and to grow together to become what we were created to be.

At one point his wife looked at all the people there (there were quite a few) and comment that she had no idea that they knew so many people. Most of the folk there were from the fellowship.

We stopped at the funeral home after the services, and they made a comment to us about how many folk came. I just smiled and said that Larry had a large extended family and that only a few of us could make it but many of us were there in prayer. They might not have understood what I meant but it’s OK, in a way I could feel all of you there.

I am amazed every time I go to a sober funeral or wake, at how powerful the bond that we share is, and the effect this program has on the lives of those around us.

Larry’s was very much a confirmation of the beauty of this program, the power of this fellowship and that he was one of the best of us.

I will miss chatting with him, on phone or on line, but I doubt I will cast a line into the bay here without thinking about him.

Your Brother Trudger

hobie

It breaks my heart to lose Larry. If ever there was someone who truly lived the principles, it was Larry. I have never known a more patient compassionate person.  Rest with the angels friend. We will meet again.
