When I first sobered up I woundered why coke tasted so funny.... then I realized I was drinking it with no rum in it.
As to the kids. The realtionship I was able to have with my sons because of my sobriety has been one of the greatest gifts.
It's been a few years since those "early days" but I can see what an effect it had especially on my oldest son. He's 22 now and we still have a very close and loving relationship. WHen he needs to talk or just shoot the bull I'm still one of the first people he calls. A lot of that is the direct results of me not drinking, working the steps and being the best father I could be.
I can tell you that if you choose to stay on this road to happy destiny there are things ahead of you beyond your wildest dreams.
