Hello all!

My name is Rob E and I'm an Alcoholic.

I've posted a bit so far on the seekers and men's threads but I thought I'd do a former howdee!

About me. I'm a published writer originally from the Land of Enchantment, Albuquerque, NM. I now reside in Vejle, Denmark with my beautiful wife and four year old son. How I got here is a long story and you can read about the last eight years of my life in my other posts.

I've had an interesting life to say the least. I believe that my addictions, while terrible as they were, never-the-less shaped me into the person I am today. We must not live in the past but to forget it will open us up to repeating past mistakes. This is why I "stumbled" and lost my sobriety.

I didn't touch Alcohol until college in my late 20's. Before that, I was a pot head, doser acid freak, that followed the Grateful Dead from 1986 through 1990. I saw the whole United States, Central America and parts of Canada, Europe and the Caribbean over those four years. I chased the high, the experience of the leftover 60's. I went to strange and wonderful places, and met even stranger people. Until...until... I fell in love with Cocain. That was a year of pain and self distruction.

I kicked coke in a cheep rundown hotel room back in Albuquerque with Alcohol of all things. In my forth year of Dead Tour, I got in heavy with the hippy mafia that supplied all the LSD to the States and the rest of the world. With all that money around coke became the drug of choice and one night in Miami, my "friend", "boss" what have ya got busted in his hotel room with a few other "friends". Scared sh*tless that I was next. I grabbed a cab to the bus station and left Dead Tour forever. Ending up in that fleabag hotel room.

Tequila, the catus squeezings that I loved so well, got me over my cocain withdrawls, but all I did was trade one drug for another. I did manage after a time, to clean up enough to get into school in Olympia, WA. From there came my first failed marriage, treatment and sobriety, meeting my current wife and moving here to DK and a 3 year relapse. I guess I didn't look to closely at the mistakes of my past.

But my Higher Power is loving and forgiving. And one day at a time I will rebuild my life.

Peace to you all and Happy Yuletide!

Rob
